A Little Bit of Halloween!

What are you doing for Halloween???

Perhaps you will dress up as Mrs. Frankenstein... This is my lovely Halloween client, Alexandra! She asked for a sexy, feminine Frankenstein...

But what she was most excited about, was the gash with pins holding it closed! I used liquid latex and shaped it on a cold metal surface. As it dried I created the cut within it and let it dry completely in the freezer... once it was done it was a perfect prosthetic appliance. I used spirit gum to glue it to her forehead and then dressed it was foundation and blood... and of course, pins!!!

Something easier???

How about a zombie? This is probably the simplest thing to do for a last minute costume... pale foundation, grey and brown eye shadows for shading everywhere you want to look gaunt and sucked in...

and a little bit of blood!!!

Even my boy got in on the action... I added white hair makeup to his beard, eyebrows, and hair roots.

This picture makes me smile... he didn't know if he should look serious or not, so this face came out!!! LOL!

Tim Burton Movie???

This is my mysterious tortured young girl look... maybe she hasn't slept in a while, maybe she witnessed something horrible, or maybe in her world, she is a happy-go-lucky sunny gal!!!

I don't think I'll ever get tired of Tim Burton's wild imagination... he will always inspire me!

What I've Been Up To & Halloween!!!

So here's what I've been up to lately...

I did makeup for the beautiful Yvette!!! She was attending a wedding on a boat... she gave me the go-ahead to do as I please.

 ::insert maniacal laugh::

I especially love how her eyes came out... from light inner eyelid to dark on the outside is really such a classic look for any gal or special occasion!

The natural colors I used, with a touch of greys, really made her eyes look deep and chestnutty :)

Thank you Yvette for letting me do your makeup, I hope you had a wonderful evening!!!

In September was my wonderful husband's 28th Birthday...

We had a wonderful (little boy-style) park party and mini vacation at the beach, and on his actual birthday, family came to celebrate with us... wine & dining on South Beach!

My lovely mother-in-law arrived from work and changed into a great royal blue top (My favorite color for her red hair and green eyes)... and I knew I had to do her makeup. She's not much of a "makeup-wearer" so she kept nervously telling me, "not too much color! What are you doing now? That's too dark! Can I see myself now?"... She couldn't sit still!!! But I told her to trust me... and she did.

I'm a lucky lady, with extremely good-looking in-laws... She was a great canvas to enhance. She has great big eyelids to work with, and those big green eyes!!! I kept everything neutral, using browns and beiges... but because it was nighttime, I added a shimmery beige-white to her brow bone.

Her only request was, RED LIPS! And I agreed! Her light skin, and the royal blue top would mesh perfectly with a red pout!

Needless to say, she loved it and quickly shared herself on "Fayboo"... (that's Facebook for Cubans with accents)... She sparkled all night, and even my father-in-law saved these pics for his iPhone screen!

This is the reason I love makeup so much! ALL WOMEN ARE BEAUTIFUL... and I love when a woman tells me they're not a makeup person... because the confidence they feel once they have it on is worth it-ALWAYS! I don't think of makeup as a mask or to cover natural beauty... it is an enhancer of that natural beauty and of the soul... if a woman feels beautiful, everyone around her will know she's beautiful!

With Halloween just 2 weeks away, I've been looking forward to sharing some makeup ideas...

I'm not sure exactly what this makeup is supposed to be, or if it is supposed to be anything at all, but I liked it a lot when I found it on Pinterest! This little "Pinsperation" reminded me of something a-la-Tim-Burton... a dark, maybe mystical creature, with a dark past!

This look was fairly easy, and began as a traditional makeup look... foundation, concealer, setting powder... and pink eyeshadow- lots of PINK!!! I did a black smokey eye first and extended out toward my temples a bit... and then I went nuts with the pink. Pink on the brow bone, temples, cheekbones and hollows, and even a bit towards the upper bridge of my nose!

My favorite part was the lower lashes... I didn't have any fake lashes, so I just painted them on... gave the same effect without the same dollar!

Overall, this look could be altered to any color or design above the brows... use makeup looks you find online as a guideline and always make them your own!

Pinterest "Pinsperations"!!!

It's been a while... but get ready for some fun stuff!!!

With this year in its final stretch, I can't help but think of the holidays quickly approaching... and first up to bat??? HALLOWEEN!!!

Being the Pinterest fanatic that I am... I have been pinning endless makeup looks for the past year and half... always with the expectation or "fantasy" of replicating them one day... and so here I begin my first "PINSPERATION MAKEUP LOOK"!!!

I am starting with this Cleopatra-style look, for no particular reason... it seemed simple for my first "Pinsperation" post...

1)I started by applying face and eye primer, then my natural skin color foundation and concealer.

2)to prevent all that blue and gold eyeshadow from ruining the foundation, I applied a generous amount of translucent powder under my eyes and on the apples of my cheeks... feel free to over-do-it with this step, it can be swiped away with a brush after, leaving your face "fall-out" free!

3)I began my eyes.  I put a base on my eyelids in the form of a cream, copper color (the closest I had to gold)... this will help to really make the gold shadow stay and pop. Once I did this on both eyes, I applied gold eyeshadow directly on top. Above my lids on the brow bone, I used a bright blue and filled in the rest of my eye to the outer tips of my brows. Lastly, I swept a dark gray shadow in my crease to give dimension.

4)You can't be Cleopatra without her unmistakable eyeliner cat-eye look... have fun with this part and make it as thick or cat-like as you wish!!! Then, with the same gold I used earlier I thickly lined under my lower lash line, and used a black eyeliner to line my waterline.

5) To give the rest of my face dimension and light, I used a dark shade cream foundation stick and applied this in all the areas that I want defined and thinned. I did my jawline, the hollows under my cheek bones, temples, forehead border, and down the sides of my nose. I used a similar color in powder and went over all the areas I darkened... this is to set the cream and give even more dimension.

6) Then, we highlight the area we want to pop! With a white chubby eyeliner (use white only for "theatrical" looks), I did the bridge of my nose, the center of my forehead, under my eyes and above the apples of my cheeks, under my nose to shape my Cupid's bow, and right above my jawline... then went right over it with a shimmery translucent powder.

7) Don't for get blush on your apples and cheekbones!!!

8) To have a little fun with my lips, I lined them with black eyeliner and filled them with shiny red lipstick. When you blend it well, it makes a beautiful "ombre" look.

9) Lastly, eyebrows... I chose to make my brows more angular and straight-lined using black eyeshadow.

10)After lastly, is finally... dress up and have fun!

(My good camera was out of commission... damn iPhone camera and its shadows!!!)

Showers, Diapers, & Photoshoots

Since last we spoke, a few exciting things have happened!!!

One of my beautiful BFFs had her baby shower and gave me the honor of doing her makeup... she really did look amazing (you know, that glowing look)!!! It is so surreal to see someone, who's been in my life since we were 8, with a big ol' round belly. I truly cannot wait to meet her little Princess Ashley and be a part of the "village" who raises her!!!

My other BFF and I, made a diaper cake, for the baby shower, and were really proud of it... if you'd be interested in one, please feel free to contact me or Yvette!!!

I also did makeup for another boudoir photo shoot with Las Celias. Again, her photography and artistic view were something to envy...

Ingrid is a beautiful model and I hope she was able to surprise her hubby with this secret photo shoot!!! For more pics go to blog.lascelias.com

Crazy Hair, Crazy Girl, & a Wedding Party!!

So, like I mentioned last post... I'M FREEEEE! Which means I am home a lot, which in turn means, I got bored right away!

The good thing is, I have been catching up on a lot of house work and exercising, the bad thing is... I am self-diagnosed with ADD and tend to easily- SQUIRREL! You get the idea: I have caught up on Dr. Oz, TLC marathons, The View, Boy Meets World, Saved By The Bell... again, you get the idea! So, what did I decide to do my first week off???

Bleach a chunk of my hair!!! In this pic it looks all nice and blow-dried but... let's be realistic, it'll look like this once a month... you don't want to see what it looked like all the other days! I had actually bought pastel blue hair dye to do a streak within the chunk... I couldn't summon the gall to do it (even though I've done pink and crazy before)... so I thought about my options: black, which I love, or keep my wild side on the surface?

What do you think? I like it... it's a little punk meets sophistication! LOL! I'm not saying I loooove it, but I am getting used to it, and everyone else seems to like it (unless they're just being nice)... so, I think this will be it for a while until I get bored again!

Last weekend, I did makeup for a bridal party... a friend of mine from my old job (who I hadn't spoken to in a while)randomly called me and asked me if I still do makeup... Ha, do I do makeup? LOL! Her daughter was getting married and needed a makeup artist for her bridesmaids... and so I took the job! I did 3 bridesmaids and 1 Jr. Bridesmaid... the bride asked for a natural look, using peaches and other light colors.

Thank you Dania (the bride) and Ana (my friend and mother-of-the-bride) for letting me be a part of your special day! I hope you have many years of happiness and fun with your hubby!!!
